Nelpori (Puffed Rice) 

  • Puffed rice is a type of puffed grain from the Indian subcontinent. It is made from rice and used in breakfast cereal, snack foods, and as a popular street food in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
  • Puffed rice can be an ingredient of bhel puri (a popular Indian chaat). Pilgrims of Sabarimala often pack puffed rice with jaggery meant to be offered to Lord Ayyappan. 
  • Tamil saints say that Lord Ganesh loves pori (puffed rice).
